We have several developers, who must be licensed?
You must obtain a license for everyone who copies, installs or executes the Noemax product or its Redistributables or its Embedded Code, irrespective of whether or
not they are directly involved in writing any code that calls the API of the Noemax product. In practice this means that your license must cover all individuals who participate in
the creation, modification, linkage or compilation of your software that uses the Noemax product. If others will also be copying, installing or executing the Noemax product or its
Redistributables or its Embedded Code, your license must cover them too. More...
What is the most cost effective way to license multiple developers?
The Team and Site licenses are specially designed to offer you a cost effective way to license small or large groups of developers. You can choose between:
- A Team 4, Team 10 or Team 25 license, which enable you to license 4, 10 or 25 developers who may be located anywhere in the world.
- A Site 100 license, which enables you to license 100 developers who are all located within a range of 25 miles or 40 kilometers.
- A Site Wide license, which enables you to license an unlimited number of developers within a range of 100 miles or 160 kilometers.

On how many computers can we use the licensed software during development?
The Noemax product or its Redistributables or its Embedded Code can be installed, copied or executed on a number of computers that is double the number of developers
licensed:
- A Team 4, Team 10 or Team 25 license permits up to 4, 10 or 25 developers to use the licensed software on up to 8, 20 or 50 computers respectively.
- A Site 100 license permits up to 100 developers to use the licensed software on up to 200 computers within a range of 25 miles or 40 kilometers.
- A Site Wide license permits an unlimited number of developers to use the licensed software on an unlimited number of computers within a range of 100 miles or 160
kilometers.

Can some of our developers use difference licenses than others?
You can mix any number of Personal, Team and Site licenses. Some developers of your software may be
licensed under a Personal license, others under a Team license and others under a Site license. However, all developers of your
software must be licensed to use the same edition; either all of them the Professional edition or all of them the Enterprise
edition.
Can you help me choose the license that best fits our needs?
Of course. Explain to
us what are your licensing requirements and we will guide you to the proper solution.
I would like a custom quote, can you send me one?
Please let us know
the number of developers who are participating in your project, their locations, the product you want to order and whether you want the
Professional or the Enterprise edition, and we will send you a custom quote.
Where can I find the license agreement?
Here are the license agreements for the Professional editions and for the Enterprise editions:
What are the differences between the Professional and Enterprise editions?
Both editions offer the same features and functionality.
The differences between them are that the Professional edition permits you to distribute only the Redistributables, while the Enterprise edition permits you to distribute both the Redistributables and the Embedded Code
and also includes the full source code of the product. Also, the Professional edition includes an initial six month subscription while the Enterprise edition includes an initial twelve month subscription.

What are the Redistributables?
The Redistributables are strong-named managed assemblies that are ready for distribution with your software. Every Noemax product includes several
Redistributables, each of which provides the functionality of a class library for one of the supported frameworks.
What is the Embedded Code?
The Embedded Code is not pre-built, as the Redistributables are, but you create it by "embedding" the Noemax code into the compiled code
of your software so that the compiled Noemax code forms an integral and indistinguishable part of the compiled code of your software. Embedding is performed either by combining the
source code provided by Noemax with your source code and compiling them together, or by merging the Redistributables with the compiled code of your software using a tool such as
SmartAssembly. To distribute your software that contains Embedded Code you must have a license for an
Enterprise edition. More...
Are the Redistributable assemblies strong-named?
All assemblies marked as Redistributables are already signed with a strong name, unless the compilation target does not support strong-named assemblies.
What are the benefits of using Embedded Code?
Using Embedded Code enables you to hide the use of the Noemax product, to avoid dependencies on Noemax assemblies, and to sign Noemax code with your own keys. Apart from the technical differences, the use of Embedded Code also offers you
more distribution rights; you can distribute your own applications, services, libraries or components that contain Embedded Code and permit their end users to
further distribute them to others, modify them and even use them in their own software, as long as their own software is not a library or component.
What can I distribute with my software?
- If you obtain a license for a Professional edition, you can distribute the Redistributables1.
- If you obtain a license for an Enterprise edition, you can distribute either the Redistributables1 or the Embedded Code2.
The Redistributables or the Embedded Code can be distributed only in conjunction with and as an
inseparable part of your software.
Can I distribute both the Redistributables and the Embedded Code with my software?
If you have several software products then each one of them can be distributed either with the Redistributables or with the Embedded Code. However, the
same software product cannot be distributed with both the Redistributables and the Embedded Code. To distribute Embedded Code you must obtain a license for an Enterprise edition.
Is distribution to end users royalty-free, are there any per-server or other runtime fees?
Provided that you meet the terms and conditions of the
Noemax license, you can distribute the Redistributables or the Embedded Code to end users as part of
your software without paying any royalties or other runtime
fees. If you cannot meet
the requirements for distributing the Redistributables or the Embedded Code, you must obtain a license that covers not only the developers but also the end users who will be copying,
installing or executing the Redistributables or the Embedded Code, as well as all computers on which they will be copying, installing or executing the Redistributables or the
Embedded Code. More...
Can I permit my end users to modify or further distribute my software?
Can I distribute my own libraries that use the Redistributables or Embedded Code?
- You cannot create and distribute your own libraries or components that include any Redistributables.
- You can create and distribute your own libraries or components that include Embedded Code2. Note that your libraries components must not include any Redistributables and that you must prohibit end users of your software from creating other
libraries or components using your software.
Can I modify, adapt or port the Noemax source code?
You cannot modify, adapt or port the source code of a Noemax product or any portion of it, even when the source code is provided to you as part of the Enterprise
edition. If you need to make changes to the source code then please contact Premium Support and we will try either to integrate the
changes that you need into the product or to provide you a permission to make those changes yourself.
I develop software for others, can they distribute my software?
- If your software uses Redistributables, the right to distribute the Redistributables as part of your software is granted only to you. If your customers want to distribute your software that includes the Redistributables, even within their organization, they must purchase their own license for the Professional or Enterprise edition.
- If your software uses Embedded Code and your customers do not participate in the creation of your software and they do not have access to the source code of your software, your customers can distribute your software that includes the Embedded Code2. In all other cases your customers must purchase their own license for the Enterprise edition.
I develop software for others, can I provide them with the Noemax source code?
You cannot provide the source code of any Noemax product to your customers or to anyone else. Only your developers
who are licensed to use the Enterprise edition can have access to the source code. If your
customers need to have access to the source code then they must purchase their own license for the Enterprise edition.
Is a license server needed to manage the use of Noemax products?
Noemax does not require that a license server is employed to manage the use of Noemax products, but instead relies on other means to ensure license compliance. It is
up to you to take whatever
measures are necessary to ensure that Noemax products are used in accordance with their license.
Can the Redistributables or the Embedded Code be stored in our source control system?
The Redistributables and the Embedded Code may be stored in a source control management system, such as SVN, CVS
or VSS, as
long as (a) the computers on which the source control system copies the Redistributables or the Embedded Code have been counted
towards the total number of computers on which the licensed developers may use the Noemax product, and
(b) all individuals who
directly or indirectly copy or execute the Redistributables or the Embedded code from the source control system are licensed to use
that Noemax product.
Do the Redistributables or the Embedded Code require activation when deployed?
The Redistributables and the Embedded Code do not require activation. When distributing them with your software
you do not need to provide license keys, add entries to the Windows registry or perform
any special installation actions.
Do the Redistributables or the Embedded Code transmit any information to Noemax?
The Redistributables and the Embedded Code do not transmit any information to Noemax or
to anyone else.
They do not perform any communications unless you program them to
do so.
However, the Trial edition might transmit license conformance information to Noemax while you are evaluating it.
What will I receive when I place an order on the Noemax online store?
You will receive a license key for each item that you purchase, irrespective of whether
that item is a New License, a
Subscription Renewal or a New Subscription. As soon as you register your license key you
will be able to download the licensed software and request Premium Support for it.
Can I download the licensed software immediately after placing my order?
You will be able to download the licensed software as soon as you register the license key that is sent to you at the end of the ordering process. If you pay by credit card or Paypal then in most cases your order will be completed immediately. If there is a
delay in the ordering process or if you pay by other means then you can
ask us to provide you with early access to the
software that you will be licensing.
Do all developers licensed by a Team or Site license need to register the license key?
Only a single person has to register the license key of a Team or Site license. That person is the one who is authorized to download the licensed software and provide
copies of it to the licensed developers, and to submit all Premium Support requests on behalf of the licensed developers.
Do new licenses include a subscription?
All new licenses include an initial subscription at no extra cost. For the Professional edition the duration of
the included initial subscription is six months, for the Enterprise edition it is twelve months.
What does a subscription offer?
A subscription provides you with Premium Support and Upgrade Protection while your subscription is active. Premium Support offers you technical support for an
unlimited number of issues, while Upgrade Protection ensures that you have access to all releases of the products you are subscribed to, including not only minor updates but also
major upgrades. More...
Should I order a Subscription Renewal or a New Subscription?
Both Subscription Renewals and New Subscriptions offer you a twelve month subscription. The differences between them are in their starting date and their
price: a Subscription Renewal is intended to be used either before or soon after your previous subscription expires, while a New Subscription might be preferable if your previous
subscription expired several months ago.
The starting date of a Subscription Renewal will always be the expiration date of your previous subscription, irrespective of the date you register the
Subscription Renewal. The starting date of a New Subscription will always be the date you register it, irrespective of the date you order the New Subscription or the date your
previous subscription expires.
When you register a Subscription Renewal before the expiration date of your previous subscription, you receive an additional two months' subscription for free.
Can I continue to use a Noemax product after its subscription expires?
Your license is perpetual so you can continue to use for as long
as you like any version that you downloaded while your subscription was active.
How does the Trial edition differ from the Professional and Enterprise editions?
The Trial edition offers you the same functionality as the Professional and Enterprise editions but you may use it only for 90 days from the date you first download it and only for evaluation purposes. You
cannot use it on computers that are not operated by you and you cannot distribute, sublicense or make available its assemblies to others. Also, the Trial edition will eventually expire and
stop functioning; if it expires during your 90 day evaluation period, you may install a newer version for the remainder of the evaluation period. At the end of your 90
day evaluation period you must delete all copies of the Trial, its assemblies and all other parts of it. The license for the Trial editions is
available here.
